F.A.Q

Some answers to questions you may be thinking of before booking.

Should I have a makeup trial?
A makeup trial is definitely recommended for weddings. It is your opportunity to explore different makeup styles, to discuss the theme of your event, your gown, how you usually wear makeup and to share ideas about makeup styles you are interested in. The trial reduces the risk of being caught by surprise on the day and ensures our timing is not blown out by having to rework your look. A trial reduces stress on the day.

What happens at the trial?
The trial will take 2-3 hours. We can experiment with a couple of different looks and you are given the opportunity at the completion of each step to give me feedback about the colours selected, depth of colour, thickness of lines,  etc. I use a digital camera to capture your makeup photographically and try to emulate the conditions of your wedding (inside/outside/day/night) so you can see how it might look in your photos.
At the end of the trial, particularly if you are not used to wearing makeup, I recommend that you go home, let the makeup sink into your skin, put on a dress with heels, your hair up and even your veil and try to imagine how you are going to feel walking down the aisle on the day – does it bring a smile to your face? It is your wedding, your face and I am here to give you what you want.

Can I book in my trial for the same day as another event?
If requested, I will try to accommodate your trial at a time that coincides with another event that you have on, so that you are not  all dressed up with nowhere to go. Wedding bookings do however take precedence over trial bookings, particularly on Saturdays, but hopefully we can arrange a mutually convenient time.

What products do you use?
My makeup kit contains a somewhat eclectic collection of products that I love and know work well and have staying power. Brands include Max Factor, Illamasqua, Mac, NYx & more as well as beautifully soft brushes and applicators.

Will I need to touch up my makeup?
Although the professional makeup I use has the staying power to last all day, you will still need to touch up your lips throughout the event, particularly after eating and I also recommend having a compact powder with you to eliminate shine, especially if there is going to be a lot of dancing involved! Touching up your makeup before professional photos are taken is also recommended.

How far do you travel?
I am based in Glasgow & ca
n travel to surrounding areas. For destinations that take longer than 45 minutes by car there may be a small travel fee to cover the cost of travel time & petrol.

Are there any other additional costs?
The only other additional costs that may need to be covered is parking where there is no nearby street parking available, particularly if you are getting ready at a hotel.

Does the makeup need to be heavy for photos?
The makeup style does not need to be heavy for photos and many brides opt for minimalist or natural looking makeup which still looks beautiful in photos. Clients who don’t usually wear much makeup may however be surprised to learn that the natural or minimalist look still requires more makeup than they are used to wearing, however it should still feel light and comfortable and will look that way in the photos. You still need to look like you on the day and I do not agree with caking makeup on just for photos.

How long does it take?
I like to allow one hour per client plus 15 minutes at the start and end for setting and packing up. Bridesmaids or group bookings tend to take less time per client than single bookings.
bridesmaids - 30 to 40 minutes
bride - 1 hour 30 minutes

For my arrival, i always do the makeup of the bridesmaid/s first as then once they are done, i can put my full attention on the bride.

i ask that everyone have their hair done before my arrival to save time. this way i can come in & quickly start onto the makeup.

Can you do hair as well?
Unfortunately I am not a trained hair stylist.
